Search Engineer II
deCarta is changing the game in mobile local search by democratizing the ecosystem of operating systems, ad networks, mapping content, and branding. Not everyone wants to hitch their wagon solely to Apple, Google, or Microsoft and that's where deCarta comes in. We let our customers control their own brand, their customer, their content, and their business model.
deCarta provides an alternative to Google Maps or Bing Maps targeted at mobile network operators, phone manufacturers, and publishers. It consists of end user applications on a variety of mobile platforms including native and web, a Local Search Engine, interfaces to various ad networks, interfaces to social networks, and local content from a variety of providers.
We have an opportunity for a talented and creative software engineer to work in a dynamic small team implementing cutting edge technology. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a pioneering spirit as the work emphasizes prototyping and R&D.
Key Responsibilities:
- Learn and implement core search engine algorithms: retrieval, ranking, scoring, suggestion as well as geospatial search algorithms and methods.
Qualifications:
- Experience using Java with the Hadoop Mapreduce framework and Apache HBase database
- Experience with agile/scrum is a plus
Experience:
- We prefer an advanced degree in CS or EE/ECE or a related field from a top-tier university, but we appreciate that there are excellent engineers out there who don't have a degree.
- We desire 2 - 4 years professional experience in software development.
