deCarta Powers Winners

With a long lineage of providing the geospatial platform to previous NAVTEQ Global LBS Challenge finalists and winners, and as a charter sponsor, deCarta wants to welcome you to the 2010 competition.

Last year, deCarta's technology provided the geospatial functionality for many of the mobile applications receiving finalist awards for the 2009 NAVTEQ Global LBS Challenge-Americas, including the grand prize winner!

The NAVTEQ Global LBS Challenge is under way, once again offering developers around the world the chance to compete for an invaluable prize pool consisting of cash, map data licenses, sponsor licenses and services, and mobile devices, including the iPhone. Now in its eighth year, the LBS Challenge has expanded into five regions: Europe-Middle East-Africa (EMEA), North America, South America, Asia-Pacific (APAC) and India.

The NAVTEQ Global LBS Challenge calls on developers to build innovative LBS applications that work with mobile phones and/or wireless handheld devices using dynamic positioning technology and NAVTEQ map data.

Entries can be submitted in five categories-Content, Enterprise, Entertainment, Navigation and Social Networking. Winners are chosen by an elite panel of judges comprised of major wireless carriers, industry experts and venture capitalists.

About the NAVTEQ Global LBS Challenge

First launched in 2003, the NAVTEQ Global LBS Challenge is a world-wide competition conducted by NAVTEQ Network for Developers™ (NN4D), daring application developers around the world to build innovative location-based services (LBS) using dynamic positioning technology and NAVTEQ® maps. Integrating the accuracy and richness of NAVTEQ digital map data and LBS content facilitates the timely evolution of the next wave of location-aware applications. The Global LBS Challenge has become the premier event in the LBS industry for shining the spotlight on global LBS innovation and opportunity. Over 32% of the finalists from the past six years have gone on to receive venture capital funding or launch commercially-distributed applications.
