This two-day event will feature a mix of presentations, panel discussions, in-depth technical topics and forward-looking exposés on the trends in technology and market dynamics for location-enhanced services. Attendees will choose between introductory concepts and tutorials on deCarta’s newest products and features, or more advanced topics on some of the most pressing issues facing location application developers today.

Overview

Keynotes

J. Kim Fennell, President and Chief Executive Officer, deCarta, Inc.
Kim will provide a broad presentation and business update on deCarta, make some exciting announcements on new products and new initiatives, brief us on the state of the industry, and expose the challenges and opportunities that make ours one of the most vibrant technology sectors today.

Mike Liebhold, Senior Researcher, Institute for the Future
Mike will present an outsider's view of the Location technology industry and provide some insightful and provocative thoughts on the challenges ahead.

Business Sessions

This year, the Conference will feature a significant number of industry-related topics focusing on the latest trends and business issues that affect the entire LBS value chain. Some of the topics will include:

Panel Discussions

At last year's conference, the panel discussions produced some of the most interesting and insightful moments of the day. This year again, the panel discussions promise to be discerning, fresh and inspired.

Technical Tracks

The technical sessions represent the core element of the Conference. With two full days and a much larger venue, we have greatly expanded the scope in terms of deCarta products and features as well as essential aspects of geospatial technology. These sessions will be presented primarily by deCarta engineers who are subject matter experts in their respective domain. Developer Seminar

Running concurrently with the Conference and offered on both days, this one-day seminar provides amateurs and professionals alike an opportunity to develop a web-based mapping application in a single day. Access to the deCarta Developer Zone and onsite experts will be supplied. Working from their WiFi-enabled laptop, developers are walked from the deCarta Developer Zone through the internal JavaScript and external skinning of a rich map interface. At the end of the Conference, there will be an opportunity to show off successful designs and enter a drawing for prizes.

Sponsor Sessions and Exhibits

This year, Conference sponsors will provide additional sessions to complement the technology and business content of the agenda, and will be available to provide answers and updates on their latest and greatest offerings. Topics and session details will be communicated as they become available.

Networking Breaks

The agenda allows for multiple opportunities to mingle, share ideas and compare notes with your fellow developers and business associates.

"Birds of a Feather" Sessions

We will provide logistical support and comfortable discussion venues on Wednesday evening for impromptu meetings with your fellow developers on the topic of your choice. Feel free to communicate your intentions and needs in advance by e-mailing us at 'devcon2006 at decarta dot com'.

Evening Reception and Special Event

Don't miss our special Wednesday evening event at the world famous San Francisco Exploratorium, sponsored by deCarta, and featuring Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage, hosts of Discovery Channel MythBusters. Fun, food and many surprises are on the menu.
