Drill Down ServerDDS is a spatial query server that provides all of the core features required for location-based applications and services, including: routing, mapping, geocoding and reverse geocoding. It also supports more advanced applications including real-time navigation, guidance and traffic, as well as vehicle tracking. Is DDS capable of geocoding? Reverse geocoding? Yes, DDS provides both geocoding and reverse geocoding capabilities. For geocoding, the DDS employs the Lookup Plug-in to turn a street address into a latitude and longitude pair. The Lookup Plug-in also provides the ability to find misspelled or incorrectly input addresses using Soundex and Fuzzy Match. For reverse geocoding, the Proximity Plug-in is capable of resolving a latitude and longitude pair into a street address. Does it provide turn-by-turn directions? Pedestrian routing? Yes, through the Route plug-in, DDS can output turn-by-turn instructions and perform pedestrian routing. Based on a given route calculation, DDS can provide turn-by-turn instructions that can be output to a location-based application in text, image or synthesized into speech. In addition, the DDS can provide route outputs based on a variety of criteria, including “fastest”, “shortest”, “avoid highways”, or “scenic.” DDS also supports POIs along a given route. What type of maps does it produce? DDS produces both GIF image and vector-based maps. Both map types support cartographic operations like panning, zooming and image rotation. What type of map data does DDS use? The DDS utilizes map data from the leading map providers. Through deCarta’s data conversion tool, deCarta supports the following data:
DDS is deployed in several high-transaction production environments and demonstrates its scalability and performance daily.
