World Archipelago leads the way for Visual
Searching with leading search technology from deCarta


World Archipelago Internet www.worldarchipelago.com has launched a series of online visual search applications - collectively known as Rocket Map – for the Media and Entertainment industry. The company has been working alongside some of the UK’s largest media companies including a major environmental site, Voice Yourself, providing a new way for audiences to engage and search for web content using online mapping.  World Achipelago used deCarta’s market-leading product, Drill Down Server, as the mapping technology platform for Rocket Maps.

Visual Searching using online mapping provides a great alternative to the traditional text search because;
a) It enables clients to get their information direct to the consumer in a branded,
quick and easy-to-use format.
b) It provides users with relevant and accurate information based on a geographical search.
c) It helps keep a site’s content fresh as it allows user generated content to be posted to points of interest on the map through real time user reviews and voting.
d) It also allows online advertisers to target an audience based both on the location of their search and the search term.

How does it work?
Rocket Map uses deCarta’s Drill Down Server mapping platform and database to overlay live content on dynamic, draggable maps.  The search results or points of interest on the maps can then be filtered to further tailor the user’s search - showing any changes or additions in real time.  The information is displayed on the rollover or click of an icon, where users can see a brief summary of the information before they decide to click through to the full content page to access further information.

Searches can be conducted by postcode, as well as by town and county, offering highly targeted relevant results for each individual user. Rocket Map products are already used by some of the major players in the property industry including www.johndwood.co.uk , www.kfh.co.uk,  www.townends.co.uk  and www.primelocation.com.
