Architecture

DDS is the only LBS platform with a flexible, modular architecture that allows additional functionality to be added without degrading the server's performance. Power Plug-Ins can run in the same server or distributed environment without impacting performance. This provides our customers with a variety of implementation scenarios that satisfy their business and operational requirements without degrading functional performance.

Available Plug-ins:

Routing - Generate complete "turn-by-turn" maneuver descriptions for door-to-door driving instructions. Works in conjunction with deCarta's optional Traffic Manager plug-in to provide detour routes around traffic incidents. Preferences available include fastest route, shortest route and avoiding or favoring limited access highway, tolls or bridges. Multi-point routing and route optimization are options. The desCarta routing plug-in has been proven in the United States and Europr serving billions of routes monthly.

Image - Creates maps in JPG, BMP, GIF PNG and SVG formats. Clients have control over size, styles, colors, icons and cartographic presentation of the map. DDS also supports the ability to generate tiled map images to support fluid map panning and zooming functionality.

Lookup - Assigns a latitude/longitude to a specific address; cross street; geography or point of interest (POI). Users can also search for traffic incidents served by deCarta's Traffic Manager.

Proximity - Finds the nearest address or geographic object (points, lines, polygons) given a radius or corridor along a route.

Vector Map - Generates vector based map output in support of thin clients.

Database Overlay - Provides an efficient means to store, retrieve and display POI and other data from an external database utilizing deCarta's spatial key technology.

Snap - Takes a location or address and "snaps" it to the location that meets the same description or address in a second data source. Supports services suc as correlating vehicle GPS positions on maps in real time.

Extract - Extract a corridor map around a route in RMF fomrat in support of thin client applications.

Attribute Edit - Allows developers to dynamically change map data attributes such as road names and road speeds.

Custom Plug-ins - Allows developers to create custom plug-ins which can interface with standard DDS modules.

DDS Query Distributor

The Query Distributor is the command, control, and content transport layer of DDS. Utilizing standard TCP/IP protocols and DDS-specific packets for commands and data, the Query Distributor can manage a complete DDS running on single or multiple CPU servers. The Query Distributor can also be scaled to support multiple servers.

Third Party Software

DDS can integrate with the following Third Party Software programs:

• Geocoders, including the Centrus GeoStan
• GPS
• Any location augmentation services
